Warmer Homes: fully funded upgrades.

Eligible homeowners can apply to SEAI for free, managed home energy upgrades.

You must own and live in the home, which must have been built and occupied before 2006, and receive a qualifying welfare payment. SEAI assesses suitability, approves the measures and assigns the contractor. Waiting times and previous-work restrictions apply.

SEAI’s expansion from 6 October 2026 includes solar PV and battery storage under Warmer Homes. Ask SEAI to confirm the offer for your property: the approved survey determines your upgrades.

Solar PV for your home.

The standard SEAI solar PV grant offers up to €1,800.

Current conditions include a home built and occupied before 2025, an MPRN and no previous solar PV grant at that MPRN. A post-works BER is needed before payment.

Support for battery storage.

€600 for an eligible home battery of at least 5kWh.

Property, technical and previous-funding conditions apply. A battery is optional: decide whether storage suits your electricity use before choosing a system.

Higher grants for qualifying households.

Up to €8,400 for solar PV, plus €600 for an eligible battery: up to €9,000 combined.

This route lets eligible homeowners choose a registered contractor and apply for a grant before installation. It is separate from SEAI-managed Warmer Homes upgrades.

The qualifying payments include:

• Fuel Allowance under the National Fuel Scheme.
• Working Family Payment or One-Parent Family Payment.
• Domiciliary Care Allowance.
• Carer’s Allowance, while living with the person you care for.
• Jobseeker’s Allowance or Disability Allowance for over six months, with a child under seven.

The Dublin rental solar pilot.

Up to €9,000 for solar PV and batteries in qualifying long-term RAS tenancies through Dublin City, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal or South Dublin councils. Ask your council for the required eligibility letter before applying.

Other solar supports.

SEAI has announced expanded fully funded solar and battery support under its Solar PV for the Medically Vulnerable scheme. Contact SEAI to confirm current access and eligibility.

A separate €1,200 solar water-heating grant supports solar thermal collectors. This covers a different technology from electricity-generating solar PV panels or a hot-water diverter.

Solar for businesses and organisations.

Enhanced NDMG support is available for new applications from 6 October 2026 to 6 July 2027.

The maximum is €325,200, subject to system-size calculations. Payment is the lower of the scheme amount and 45% of invoiced cost. Existing grant offers are not automatically increased.

Businesses, farms, schools and other eligible organisations can check the non-domestic scheme. Agree the applicable ESB Networks connection process before installation.

TAMS support for farm solar.

The Solar Capital Investment Scheme offers 60% grant aid, with a €90,000 eligible investment ceiling.

This Department of Agriculture scheme has separate eligibility, reference costs and approval rules. Applications are subject to ranking and selection; eligibility alone does not guarantee funding. Discuss the appropriate route with your agricultural adviser and obtain approval before proceeding.

Privately arranged installs: before you start.

1. Review the design, quote and the contractor’s relevant SEAI registration.
2. Receive the grant offer before work starts.
3. Agree connection paperwork, electrical certification and commissioning.
4. Arrange the required BER and retain the handover documents.
